C87850 – ECO BRASS® Ingot
ENGINEERED FOR PERFORMANCE
C87850 ECO BRASS® Ingot has excellent machinability and the right price for you. It has high strength equivalent to stainless steel. It has superior dezincifcation and stress corrosion resistance. It easily welds, solders, and brazes, and accepts plating. It also has excellent hot forgeability. Further, C87850 ECO BRASS® Ingot resists pitting in the high pH, high chloride water that traditionally causes pitting failures in copper pipe.

Sand Casting Using Brass Ingots
Sand Casting is the most commonly used casting process and involves pouring metal into a non-reusable sand mold to produce a metal casting. A negative space is created in a sand bed for the casting cavity. Using a sand mold allows for versatility in the size, details, and complexity of the casting. It can also be used to cast almost any metal alloy and can withstand high temperatures. Sand casted parts must be smoothed out to remove the mold seam and roughness resulting from the sand. Permanent Mold Castings Using Brass Ingots
Permanent mold casting is similar to sand casting in that molten metal is poured into a mold; however, sand casting molds are destroyed after each casting whereas permanent molds can withstand several thousand casting cycles. Using a metal mold, permanent mold casting is traditionally used for large volume production runs on parts such as gears and pipe fittings.
Investment Castings Using Brass Ingots
Investment casting involves pouring molten metal into a hollow wax-patterned, ceramic-covered mold. Several wax versions of the final part or product are first built, then they are dipped in a ceramic flurry. The pattern is then heated to allow the wax to melt out, leaving a cavity for the molten metal to fill the mold. Investment castings can hold tight tolerances and produces the smoothest finish. However, if a design change is desired for the end product, it is much more difficult to make an adjustment in investment casting than in sand casting.
The C87850 ECO Brass® Ingot for sale is ideal for drinking water applications. It is also used in fire protection devices, forgings and castings for ball valves, forging for shower valves, and water meter body casting. It can be utilized in both automotive parts and European electrical and electronic parts.
